Zeltiva

As a city, Zeltiva has seen travelers from all over the world at one point in time or another. The general public is not as quick to ostracize other races as might be the case in some other cities, however, the city is not as aware of all the races as they think they are. This is not to say that the whole populace isn’t without their prejudices, they exist but the societal norm of Zeltiva is to be open-minded albeit cautious. It is of great help that the University encourages the exploration and study of other cultures in the way of art, music, theater, philosophy as well as scientific pursuits. A race’s reputation to the city ranges from 1-5, with 1 being killed on sight, and 5 being welcomed and/or perceived as humans.

Mixed Blood - Most mixed blooded individuals are held in the same regard as the races they’re mixed with. There are exceptions though. It is largely circumstantial based on the individual.

Rank 5

Benshira - Very rare in Zeltiva, to the point that the general public isn't at all aware that there's a difference between Benshira and a normal human. Concerning that, they would be treated as any human would be as long as they could communicate effectively.

Drykas - Although not unheard of in Zeltiva, many do not think of them as different from humans. Zeltiva is not the most hospitable environment for a strider that is used to the open plains of Cyphrus, thus Drykas do not often stay long enough to pique anyone’s interest. Concerning that, they would be treated as any human would be as long as they could communicate effectively.

Ethaefal - Given Zeltiva’s proximity to the sea, the city has seen many Ethaefal pass through from time to time. Most move on from the city to other places but they are treated as beings of wonder during their stay. As a result, stories have circulated through the city with this race often depicted as being heralds of good tidings. They are often followed by hushed whispers and given wide berths when they walk around in their Ethaefal seemings. This is not from any malice but out of a mild sense of reverence. As such citizens are more likely to assault an Ethaefal with wide-eyed questions than with anything harmful. Ethaefal in their mortal seemings are regarded just as whatever race that seeming is.

Humans - The race that all others are compared to in Zeltiva. They are the race that dominates the city in terms of population. As a result, there is no initial prejudices or stereotypes about humans, they will be treated as they act.

Inarta - Very rare in Zeltiva, to the point that the general public isn't at all aware that there's a difference between being an Inarta and a normal human. Concerning that, they would be treated as any human would be as long as they could communicate effectively.

Isur - Not unheard of but rarely seen. Isur are praised for their brilliance in the way of craftsmanship. The general populace wouldn’t hold any hostility toward an Isur but the sons and daughters of Izurdin might be bombarded by curiosity. Isur would actively be sought out by members of the University in the hopes that something could be learned from them.

Jamoura - Zeltiva is perhaps one of the few cities in Sylira that has heard of Jamoura. Several of the gentle giants have attended the University. Their insight and wisdom is praised by scholars. The general populace, however, might have difficulty believing they’re anything other than very big animals upon their first impression.

Konti - Konti are well-loved in Zeltiva. The pale daughters of Laviku are common and welcome in the city. Due to their visions and reputation for being wise and kind, they are often given a higher basis of respect from the average Zeltivan and can find themselves in friendly company when visiting.

Pycon - Zeltiva is well acquainted with these clay folk since many found Zeltiva to be home after the Valterrian. Pycons are viewed mostly as odd by the populace, although not unfamiliar. Because of their adventurous and curious nature, it is common to see Pycon at the University or working alongside sailors in both the Navy and Sailor's Guild.

Rank 4

Akalak - Akalak are not an uncommon sight at the docks of Zeltiva as the city trades with Riverfall on a fairly regular basis. The proud sons of Wysar and Akajia might find the city a little crowded and citizens would likely give the towering men a wide berth but their experience wouldn’t be unpleasant. If anything the worst thing an Akalak would suffer from would be constant stares or questions stemming from curious individuals.

Akvatari - Akvatari have been a regular presence in Zeltiva for quite some time. An Akvatari would be viewed as odd but given their generally non-threatening reputation and appearance, hostility against them would be rare. They are a very, very welcome sight at the University and the likelihood of them being sought out by students and professors alike is high for their status as being prolific artists.

Chaktawe - Practically unheard of. Aside from the strange eyes, the desert race of nomads might receive strange looks but for all intents and purposes would be treated like a human.

Eypharian - Eypharians are rare enough in Zeltiva that they are a novelty. Largely treated like humans with an interesting deformity, Zeltivans are attracted to the multiple arms and beautiful skin of this race. However, Eypharians have developed the reputation of being haughty and slightly narcissistic, which turns many Zeltivans off to associated with them. Still, they are known to be excellent trade partners and are more or less welcome in the city.

Kelvic - Very common in Zeltiva, the opinion about this race is mixed. Some believe they’re intelligent men and women deserving of equal treatment to that of humans. There are also just as many who believe that Kelvics are barely above the animals whose shape they can assume, and thus are little more than pets, pests, and predators. For the latter group, Kelvics are treated as their animal form is by those who are aware of it, however most Kelvics blend in with humans without close inspection.

Svefra - The views on the Svefra culture are mixed. While Svefra are quite a common sight in Zeltiva, reactions to them range from loathing and wariness, a given considering their loose grasp on property ownership, to respect as they are the chosen children of Laviku. However, all Zeltivans know Svefra as a decent party-goer, and so even those who are wary of the race will seek one out to join a celebration when possible.

Rank 3

Charoda - Caution and slight distrust. Zeltiva has a long history of telling wild tales of creatures from the depths of Laviku’s realm. Given a Charoda’s very aquatic appearance they could be seen as offspring from the monsters that haunt sailor’s nightmares. A Charoda should exercise their best diplomatic skills to assuage public suspicion. All the same, the sea-dwelling folk are not a common sight.

Dhani - With regards to their tendency to emphasize the “s” in their sentences, a Dhani could potentially pass through Zeltiva unnoticed in their human form, which is the only reason their score remains so high. So long as they don’t go parading about in their Dhani form many wouldn’t cast them a second glance. Dhani that are discovered are tailed by authorities with heavy mistrust, although not immediately killed or rejected unless given a reason to do so. Zeltivans are unaware that Iyvess are different than Dhani, most Zeltivans cannot tell and do not care for the differences between Dhani.

Rank 2

Myrian - Zeltiva rarely sees Myrians nor would the populace welcome them very warmly. Through the experiences relayed by Kenabelle Wright and her crew, the Myri blessed race is viewed as little more than savages if not outright hostility. Needless to say, a Myrian would face heavy amounts of prejudice in the city.

Nuit - Rare. Though there are exceptions the general populace would view Nuits with disdain. Skin stealers, the dead made to walk, figures of dark tales told at bedtime. The Wave Guard will allow Nuit to enter the city, but most will not understand a walking corpse, and often react violently. A Nuit is advised to move with caution during their stay in Zeltiva.

Symenestra - Symenestra are rare enough that Zeltiva is unsure what they are. The authorities have noticed that whenever Symenestra are in town, the amount of women disappearances raise. As a result, most Zeltivans will stay away from Symenestra due to uncertainty and unfamiliarity with what they are, but many Symenestra will find themselves frequently tailed and bothered by any Zeltivan authorities that they brush with.

Rank 1

Ghosts - Famine and disease remain a common enemy to Zeltiva. As a result, Ghosts arise in enough frequency that Spiritists are perhaps one of the only types of wizards encouraged to settle in the city. Still, most ghosts appear and are kept within Maria Satterthwite’s memorial cemetery, where few Zeltivans dare to go. All ghosts are almost immediately treated as hostile. Any sightings prompt the timely summoning of an Envoyer so that they can be dealt with.

Vantha - Since Winter of 516AV, all Vantha and half-Vantha are killed on sight.

Zith - Killed on sight. If one is spotted, the authorities are notified and the immediate area surrounding Zeltiva is culled of any presence as soon as possible.

Ravok

Akalak - A rare sight in Ravok, they're regarded with an odd mix of fear, suspicion, and respect. Their fighting skills are well known, but are not readily seen through the city. They aren't treated as badly as some non-human races, for a variety of reasons.

Akvatari - Ravok rarely, if ever, sees one of this race. The city's slightly negative reputation generally turns most Akvatari away to other, more pleasant cities. If one of them did visit the city, their rarity and value would make them a keen target for slavers.

Benshira - Not too common so far from their native region, the Benshira are viewed as average humans. However, there may be a religious clash or two for those dedicated to the race's patron god, Yahal.

Chaktawe - Since they appear relatively human, Chatakwe aren't generally bothered by the general population... until someone notices their eyes, of course. They are rare so far North, and if their race is discovered, slavery for any non-citizens is inevitable, because of the value.

Charoda - Finding a Charoda in Ravok would be like finding a needle in a haystack, if there was a needle at all. Though it is a city surrounded by water, Lake Ravok itself is far from the sea, meaning that it would be nearly impossible for one of this amphibious race to make it there in the first place. Any visitors would immediately be watched closely, and those keen for a profit would attempt an attack and capture.

Dhani - This race is viewed with mixed feelings. Though their skills are highly useful for the Ebonstryfe and Black Sun's purposes, they are completely and utterly unhuman, meaning that Dhani are seen with distaste and fear. The Stryfe will not hesitate one who dares step out of their bounds... especially if they are a non citizen. Gaining citizenship in the first place is also more challenging than usual.

Drykas - Seen as basic humans, Drykas face none of the prosecution those less human do. However, living in Ravok may be a slight challenge, considering all horses are kept at the Lakeshore, and taking them into the city is impossible.

Ethaefal - If an Ethaefal has citizenship, they are safe from most things, even in their celestial form. How they are viewed in their mortal form depends on that body's race. However, they are seen as incredibly valuable, and fetch a high price in the slave market.

Eypharian - Eypharians are rare in Ravok, and seen as unusual. Being non-human, they are also looked down on, and their extra arms give them a disadvantage rather than an advantage in society.

Ghost - Ghosts are viewed with a little bit of fear in Ravok, and seeing one is an uncommon and freaky sight. Though they're usually not interfered with, a Spiritist will immediately be called for in the case of any trouble.

Human - The most common race in Ravok, humans are seen as the ruling race, and the best. Non-humans are actually looked down on, and can face racism.

Inarta - Simply seen as particularly short and red-headed humans.

Isur - Despite not being human, Isur actually face a decent bit of respect for both their crafting skills, and their relations to the Valindox family. Isur merchants are highly welcome, and one running a smithing business would gain quite a bit of business.

Jamoura - Probably never seen in Ravok before, this peaceful race would be seen as flat out beasts... ones that could sell for a lot of money as pets, though. Citizenship would be impossible, and rights would be... lacking.

Kelvic - Kelvics are actually quite common in Ravok, though not in a positive manner. Most are either slaves and pets of the general population or live in the KRI. A known Kelvic in Ravok would probably find themselves with a collar around their necks in no time.

Konti - They are respected for their healing and divination powers, though Ravokians would rather enslave one than employ one for their gifts. Cheaper that way.

Myrian - Their intimidating reputation has only reached Ravok in stories. Considering that, physically, there is little obvious difference between them and humans, few Ravokians would be able to recognize one. However, if their race was learned, they would be seen with a mixture of horror and fear.

Nuit - Considering Ravok's relations with Sahova, Nuits aren't as looked down on as other non-humans. They are viewed as creepy and a little scary by the general population, however.

Pycon - An oddity and a rarity, Pycons are viewed as funky little talking objects. They'd be quite popular as slaves if caught. However, most would just be insulted in a normal situation.

Svefra - Basic humans who happened to be marked by Laviku. The religious clash may cause some problems, however. They aren't too common in the land-locked city, however, as larger boats are impossible to find.

Symenestra - Viewed with disgust and distaste, Sym are some of the most bestial of all the races. Murdering one is taken without another glance, and gaining citizenship would be a challenge if not impossible.

Vantha - Humans with funky hair and eyes! Because of these traits, they may seem a little odd to the average Ravokian, but are otherwise appreciated for their stories. As long as it's not heresy, of course.

Zith - Beasts. Animals. That's all Zith are, to most Ravokians. However, one with enough power and connections can make their way in such a violent city, and actually fit in quite well. Gaining citizenship, however... is another matter altogether.

Endrykas

Humans & Humanoid races (Konti, Chaktawe, Myrian, Isur and all sub-races of humanity) -
While Drykas are leery of any and all outsiders, humans are viewed with an even stare. In the world of the horseclans, a man or woman is only as good as the contribution provided to the greater good. If one can prove valuable, a savvy ankal will seize the opportunity to welcome that person into his pavilion. Humans and their subraces that are just passing through Endrykas are judged by their purposes. Merchants and traders are well received. Teachers and scholars are treated well but are far less popular. Roaming hunting parties or warbands are generally corralled and shuffled along if not outright killed during initial contact. The Drykas are generally of the mindset that danger perceived calls for immediate action. In these cases, The Watch, which is the ever-vigilant buffer between Endrykas and the rest of the world, strike swiftly and efficiently.

Akalak - The big blue warriors are well liked. Women fancy them and men long to test their mettle against the giants. Riverfall is always a highly anticipated trade venture.

Akvatari - The Drykas rarely, if ever, encounter these strange beings and most Drykas would have no knowledge of them. The Sea of Grass is far too dangerous for the winged beings. That being said, most Drykas would assume them to be some kind of Zith half-breed and kill the Akvatari on sight.

Charoda - The aquatic race would be scarcely known upon the plains. Their odd appearance would make them a target to the wary horseclans.

Dhani - These shifters would be treated with caution if their race were ever revealed. It's highly likely that most Drykas would gather numbers to remove the snakefolk; either from the city or from the realm of the living.

Ethaefal - While in human form, they would be treated as any other human. Since many Drykas worship Leth and Syna, Eths would be treated fairly well so long as they proved to be useful.

Eypharian - These southern neighbors would always be socially accepted among the Drykas for the most part. It is rare that one would be included in a pavilion, however. The exotic race are treated with respect but their 'mutation' keeps them on the outer circle.

Jamoura - These great beasts would be hunted and killed. The massive bodies of fur make them out to be a threat even though the nature of the apes is quite the opposite.

Kelvic - Kelvics are widely accepted and included throughout most of the clans. Since they often bear human children and have the ability to bond, their companionship is highly sought after in Tent City. Being such a diverse species, the animal type matters a great deal. Predatory kelvics cannot bond with striders and will often spook livestock. However, that does not mean they are not included if they can prove to be skilled in some fashion. It does mean that they remain walahk, or striderless, which is a lower standing in society. Please ask your ST if you have any questions regarding how Drykas would react to your kelvic.

Nuit - Once discovered for who they are, Nuit would be killed. The unnatural long lives would strike the Drykas as going against the cycle of life. Some Nuit are very skilled at disguising their true natures and thus could pass for human or another accepted race and interact but this would not last forever so any masquerade would be 'at your own risk'.

Pycon - Some Drykas will love these little guys and some will hate or ignore them. It boils down to if the clay lifeform can show some merit or an ability to keep up with the fast pace of life in the grass.

Symenestra - It's doubtful that these frail beings would venture into the Sea of Grass. Given their fangs and claws, most Drykas would view the Symenestra as a type of Zith which would lead to an early grave for the pale-skinned race.

Zith - The vermin are killed on sight.
