Overview

Zykers haven’t been around for very long. It wasn’t until a few decades ago that they started to appear. No one knows for sure where these creatures came from or how they came about. However, they are greatly appreciated, stories spreading of some being enslaved and trained for their strength in hauling. This is uncommon, however, as Zykers are hard to track down and catch, but not unheard of. They are an elegant species with many characteristics and valuable traits.

Characteristics

Zykers have been well known for their speed. One can often travel up to 75 miles per hour; however, they become tired rather quickly. These creatures have a strange skin pattern, with grainy texture and small wrinkles found all over the body. Two smaller forearms accompany the main front arms, helping the Zyker in attaining the high speeds they are well known for. They have small tusks, much like the Tskannas, which they use for defensive purposes. They have large claws, always sharp, but only used for grip and traction in the dry grounds and rarely used for offense. Zykers have an extremely large and thick tail which they use for balance when running. Too much propulsion causes loss of balance; this tail is used for keeping the balance when they run.

Social Structure

Only mating in the autumn, this creature has special bonding and mating attitudes. When first mating to another Zyker, the male will perform a dancing ritual of sorts. They will stick out one of their feet and paw the ground several times before jumping forward. They will run in circles for several chimes before bowing at the end to their lady, seeking approval for how they did. The female will then either accept by licking the top of their new mate’s head or decline by pawing the ground as many times as the male did during his performance. Once mated, a bond has been created between female and male. During the same day of mating, or possibly a few days later, they will instantly join as one, creating a baby that will be born in the spring. Once the baby is born, the family will remain a family, travelling by themselves throughout the jungle.
