Jaleri is the only known star for which astral coordinates have been calculated, making it possible to open Summoning portals to its surface. While life on the star is obviously impossible and even the best-crafted portal can only stay open for a tiny fraction of a second, doing so will result in a dramatic conflagration of starfire around the Summoning site. Depending on the portal's size, the plasma burst can incinerate a considerable area, leaving only a smoldering crater not unlike those created by the Valterrian.
It takes exceptional magical skills to pull off this kind of Summoning. The portal must incorporate multiple layers and advanced protective Glyphing just to survive long enough to contact Jaleri's surface. Moreover, unless the user is planning on sacrificing himself in the process, he must make suitable preparations for remote activation through other magic disciplines or appropriate timing glyphs. Needless to say, this is one of the riskiest propositions even by Summoning's risky standards.
It is thought that Jaleri was one of the main reasons behind the anti-Summoning treaty signed by Suvan and Alahea. Even before the Valterrian, no more than a handful of wizards would have been aware of its coordinates. Most post-Valterrian wizards would not even know about the existence of such a horror.
